At 180 square kilometers, Salt Spring is the largest of the Gulf Islands north of Victoria and is accessible by ferry from the mainland or Vancouver Island. Salt Spring consists of three communities, Ganges, Fulford, and Vesuvius.
One of Salt Spring's biggest attractions is the local art scene. To see the many art galleries take the self guided Salt Spring Studio Tour. Free maps are available at the tourism information centers.
The mild climate in Salt Spring along with Ruckle and Mount Maxwell Provincial Parks plus the Gulf Islands National Park provides plenty of outdoor recreational activities from kayaking to hiking and biking.
