Ketchum is just one mile from Sun
Valley, and located on the banks of Big Wood River beneath Bald
Mountain in the heart of the central Idaho Rockies. Surrounding
peaks such as Bald Mountain soar to 9,200 feet and more. The nearby rugged
Sawtooth Mountains are known as the "American Alps".
The
southern edges of Sawtooth National Forest and Challis National Forest encircle the
resort area.
It is about 160 miles (a two and a half hour drive)
west of Boise, the state's
capital.

Getting
to Ketchum
Road
Main route in is ID 75 off US 20 to the south. This drive is within
the section of ID-75 designated as Sawtooth Scenic Byway. It can get
a little crowded on the 12-mile stretch between Hailey and Sun Valley, as
it is used by an average of 12,000 vehicles per day. Closest Interstate is
I-84 to the south.
Air
Closest domestic airport is the Friedman Memorial Airport, 12 miles to the
south in Hailey. There are daily services by Horizon Air
(1-800-547-9308) and SkyWest Airlines (1-800-453-9417). All Sun
Valley Resort guests are met by Sun Valley Bell Services for complimentary
transportation, or car rental and taxi
services are available at the airport.

Valley Stages offers scheduled shuttle connections between the Boise
Airport and the Wood River Valley, and Sun
Valley Express provides trips between Boise
Airport and Wood River Valley via vans that deliver passengers to their specific
destinations. Teton
Stage Lines offers charter motor coaches.

Getting
around Ketchum
Wherever you stay Ketchum, you're close to everything in a
compact area that is surrounded by wilderness. At most you will need to
travel only 5 or 10 minutes by car with good parking at facilities.
The Ketchum Area
Rapid Transit (KART) system provides an excellent free bus transportation throughout
the Wood River Valley, with services every 20 minutes. (phone:
