Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway. Deschutes National Forest.
Begin in Bend, Sunriver or LaPine and strike out on a breathtaking
87-mile loop that leads past Mt. Bachelor and the alpine lakes of
Central Oregon, with spectacular panoramas and inviting stops along the
way. Length: 66.0 miles: 106.2 km. Time to Allow: 3 to 5 hours.
McKenzie Pass-Santiam Pass Scenic Byway. Deschutes National Forest.
The byway follows rivers, climbs over high passes, crosses lava flows,
passes picturesque lakes and winds through old growth forest. The
highest point is McKenzie Pass, at 5,321 feet. Here and at Santiam Pass
you can walk on the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail. The loop starts
and ends in Sisters. Length: 82.0 miles: 132 km. Time to Allow: 2 hours.
Outback Scenic Byway
Starting at La Pine this 171 mile drive takes you through the solitude
of the colorful desert. Allow 4-6 hours. Length: 170 miles; 273.6 km.
