Held at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds located at 633 NE 3rd Street, this three day festival is packed with live music and dancing, Scottish highland games, Celtic food and drink vendors and lots of events for families and children.

The race begins at Yaquina Bay State Park at the historic "haunted" lighthouse heading north along the ocean, then looping through the city and heads back to the starting area. The Newport Marathon is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.

Newport Seafood & Wine Festival - February
Held at the South Beach Marina, this festival for adults 21 years of age and older, showcases the finest wines and culinary professionals. There are vendors showcasing fine art, sculptures, photograph and jewlery.

Outdoor Recreation

Located between Newport and Agate Beach, this recreation site has a large parking lot with beach access through a tunnel running underneath old Highway 101. Favorite activities include Razor clamming, surfing, fishing and picnicking.

Activities at Beverly Beach includes fishing, hiking and biking trails, kite flying, waterways, nature programs, playgrounds, nature/visitor center, wildlife viewing and favorite beach activities. This park is open year-round and is dog friendly.

Boiler Bay offers an amazing panoramic viewpoint where you can see grey whales all year, spot many types of birds and watch the surf. At low tide the boiler of the J. Marhoffer Steamboat, sunk by an explosion on May 18, 1910, can be seen.

The punch bowl is a hollow rock formation shaped like a giant punch bowl. This is a popular spot for whale watching and studying the geology. Explore the tidepools, have a picnic at a place stop the rocky shoreline or hike the scenic trail.

Fogarty is where the creek and ocean meet. There is picnicking in the wind sheltered picnic areas, fishing and hiking trip through wooden footbridges arching through the forest.

Located 7 miles south of Newport, Lost Creek has beach access, fishing, picnicking and whale watching opportunities. Restrooms are available.

Otter Crest offers a viewpoint 500 feet from above the ocean. Enjoy the stunning scenery of the Pacific Ocean, Devil's Punchbowl and Cape Foulweather along with whale watching.

Rocky Creek has the official Whale Spoken Here site where you can spot gray whales. Sea lions, seals and birds are other wildlife that can be viewed.

South Beach offers a wide array of recreational activities featuring kayak tours, fishing, crabbing, boating, windsurfing, beachcombing and camping.

Located at the north end of Yaquina Bay in Newport, Yaquina Bay site  is known for it's historic lighthouse which has been restored and is open to the public. This park offers hiking trails, fishing, beach access, picnic areas and viewpoints.
