Seaside has many attractions to offer that are sure to please everyone. Stroll the popular Promenade, a two mile paved pathway bordering the beach with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. Feed the seals at the Aquarium or visit the Historic Museum.

This is one of the oldest aquariums on the West Coast. Founded in 1937, the aquarium is privately owned and the descendants of some of the founders are still active in the aquarium operation.

Located just footsteps from the shops on Broadway, this park has a boat ramp, river viewing deck, fishing dock, stage area and picnic tables.

Historic Sites

Butterfield Cottage. 570 Necanicum Drive, Seaside, OR 97138. Phone: 503-738-7065.

Horace Seely Butterfield, a prominent jeweler from Portland, built the Butterfield Cottage in 1893. This is the only cottage to survive from Grimes Grove which present day is the downtown area of Seaside. Given to the Seaside Museum and Historical society the cabin was then moved to it's current location in 1985.

The Turnaround in Seaside is the official end of the Lewis and Clark Trail and the location of the bronze statue of Meriwether Lewis, William Clark and Seaman (Lewis' Newfoundland Dog).

The Promenade
This historic Promenade lies along the oceanfront at the end of Broadway and has an incorporated turnaround for automobiles. This is the end of the Lewis and Clark Trail. Here is where the bronze statue of Lewis and Clark.

National Park

Lewis and Clark National Historical Park
This park is rich in history. In this park you can follow Lewis and Clarks' footsteps, discover the heritage of the Native people and explore the rainforests and coastal views.

State Parks

Just off the Highway and a few feet from the beach where you can enjoy a picnic on the beach or go fishing.

Del Ray Beach State Recreation Site. 2 miles north of Gearhart, Highway 101. Toll-free: 1-800-551-6949. GPS:46.04444444 N; -123.923611 W.

The ocean is a short walk form the parking area with access to the beach where you can fly a kite or enjoy a picnic.

Ecola State Park. 2 miles north of Cannon Beach off Highway 101. Toll-free: 1-800-551-6949. GPS: 45.923055 N; -123.96777 W.

Picnicking, group shelter, beach access, forest and restrooms.

Hug Point State Recreation Site. 5 miles south of Cannon Beach, Highway 101.Toll-free: 1-800-551-6949. GPS: 45.825325 N; -123.961106 W.

Explore the original trail carved by stage coaches or the two caves around the point but be aware of the tide as it is possible to become stranded at high tide. Also there is a view the scenic landmark, Haystack Rock. Restrooms are available.

Oswald West State Park. 10 miles south of Cannon Beach, Highway 101. Toll-free: 1-800-551-6949. GPS: 45.775274 N; -123.945556 W.

The beach is located in a cove and is surrounded by mountains giving a feeling of privacy. Several trails lead to the beach and to Cape Falcon overlook or the Oregon Coast Trail. Restrooms are available.

Beautiful scenery of the mountain to the forest and the fields of wildflowers.

Tolovana Beach State Recreation Site. 1 mile south of Cannon Beach, Highway 101. GPS: 45.873611 N; -123.96111 W.

Walk the beach to view Haystack Rock and enjoy the wildlife.
