Tigard, Oregon
Tigard is part of the Portland metropolitan area in the Willamette Valley and is located south of Beaverton and north of Tualatin.
In 1852 Wilson Tigard and his family settle in the area Known as East Butte. His son, Charles built a general store which later became the home of the first post office in the area along with a meeting hall. In honor of Charles's father, East Butte was renamed Tigardville but shortened to Tigard to distinguish itself from nearby Wilsonville. In 1880, Wilson Tigard built the John Tigard House for his son John which is preserved by the Tigard Historical Association. See our attractions page for more information.
