Hiking Time to Hidden Lake Lookout: 8 hours
Miles: 8 Round trip
Elevation gain: 3,500 feet

High Point: 6,890 feet (Old Fire lookout) with 360 degree view of North Cascades.

The trailhead is at 3500' and the peak summit is at 6890'. The round trip is 8 miles. The peak is north of Glacier Peak and South of Mt. Baker in the North Cascades (near the Skagit River and Ross Lake). There is a lookout tower (actually more of a cabin) on top of the peak. People can camp in it on a first-come-first-serve basis for free. Alternately, you can camp at the lake, but it is a bit hard to get down to it from the ridge and the shoreline of the lake is very steep and rocky. I think most people prefer to make this a day hike, since bringing a full pack up here would be a lot of work. We did this hike in 7 hours. -- Brian High
