Public Campgrounds - Wenatchee National Forest, Leavenworth Ranger District

Seven Forest Service campgrounds lie along the Icicle Creek Road a few miles south and west of Leavenworth. All sites require a fee and are operated by concessionaires under permits issued by the Forest Service. Access is on a first-come, first-serve basis. These are popular campsites during the summer and usually are full on weekends.

Icicle Creek Road is at the west end of Leavenworth and intersects US Highway 2. Miles shown to each of the campgrounds is the number of miles up Icicle River Road from where it intersects with US Highway 2 at the west side of town.

Eight Mile: 8 miles. Elevation 1,800 feet. 45 sites.

Bridge Creek: 9.4 miles. Elevation 1,900 feet.

Johnny Creek. 12.4 miles. Elevation 2,300 feet. This is the largest of the campgrounds along Icicle Creek and has 65 sites situated in two sections; an Upper Johnny Creek and a Lower Johnny Creek. The upper section is across the road from the Creek and has the most sites. The lower section sits right on the creek, but has fewer sites. Some sites specify a minimum of two vehicles with a maximum of 5 vehicles.

Ida Creek. 14.2 miles. Elevation 2,800 feet. 10 sites. Campground sits right beside Icicle Creek.

Chatter Creek. 16.1 miles. Elevation 2,800 feet. 12 sites with 1 reservation group site. No paved drives at this campground, thus it is a bit more rustic.

Rock Island. Campground and trailhead. 17.7 miles. Elevation 2,900 feet. 22 sites.

Black Pine Horse Camp. Horse camp and trailhead. 19.2 miles. Elevation 3,000 feet. 10 pull-through sites.
