How To Get There

Leavenworth is nestled in a valley on the eastern slopes of the central Cascade Mountains just two hours east of Seattle via the Steven's Pass Highway (US 2). It is situated at the juncture of the Wenatchee River and Icicle Creek and is surrounded by the 2.2-million-acre Wenatchee National Forest.

Main routes in are US 2 from the west, and US 97 from the east. Closest Interstate is I-90, which is about 45 miles to the south on US 97. The nearest north and south Interstate is I-5, which lies about 110 miles to the west.

The town is easily reached by automobile, bus, train and plane.

Automobile

From Seattle via Interstate 90

Drive east on I-90 to just past Cle Elum. Take the Wenatchee exit at (milepost 85 and go east on State Route 970 for about 20 miles to the junction with US 97. Take Highway 97 north over Blewett Pass for 35 miles to the junction of Highway 2. Turn left and travel west on Highway 2 for 4 miles to Leavenworth.

From Seattle via Highway 2

Take Highway 522 east to Monroe where it intersects with US 2, the Stevens Pass Highway. Drive east on US 2 for 85 miles to Leavenworth.

From Spokane via Interstate 90

Exit I-90 at the junction of Highway 281 near George. Drive north on Highway 281 to the junction of Highway 28 at Quincy. Turn left (west) on Highway 28 and follow it to Wenatchee and Highway 2. Follow US 2 into Leavenworth.

Rail
The daily Amtrak passenger service, the Empire Builder, runs between Seattle/Portland and Chicago. The closest depot is in Wenatchee, which is on the Seattle to Spokane section, and is 24 miles southeast from Leavenworth.
