Visitors at the Coldwater Ridge Visitor Center watch for signs of

Coldwater Ridge Visitor Center is located 43 miles east of Castle Rock on State Route 504 at an elevation of 3,250'/1,000m.
Enjoy panoramic views of the volcano, newly formed lakes, and the debris-filled Toutle River Valley.
The
center includes interactive exhibits with an ecological focus, ranger-led
programs, bookstore, gift shop and restaurant.
Discover how plants and animals, and even people, have re-colonized the blast zone via a video-wall theater program, interpretive exhibits, and nearby self-guided trail.
Open daily 10 AM to 6 PM May through October. Winter hours and days are reduced. Check website or call ahead before visiting November thru May. Phone: 360-274-2130.
Pets are not allowed at viewpoints or on trails.
A Monument Pass is required, and you can pick one up in the visitor center.
