This grassy open space contains Bigelow Springs, a free-flowing artesian
well. There are interpretive signs and a small seating area near the
springs. This hillside park contains the Hummingbird Garden.

A monument marking one end of the old Oregon Trail was placed in 1913, in
what is now Downtown Olympia's Sylvester Park. The Oregon Trail brought
the first pioneers to the area in 1845.
