Philipsburg is a small town
(population 930) in Southwest Montana located 30
miles to the northwest of Anaconda just
off Montana Highway 1, a highway also known as the Pintler Scenic Route.
The Pintler Scenic Route is an attractive alternative
to the section of Interstate 90 between Butte
and Missoula if the traveler has
the time and inclination to take a somewhat slower and relaxed drive
rewarded by beautiful scenery.
The town is approximately 78
miles from Missoula which is served by Delta, Horizon, and Northwest
airlines, and 52 miles from Butte, with air service provided by Delta and
Horizon airlines. If driving from Missoula
eastbound on I-90, take the Drummond exit to Montana Highway 1 and follow it
some 25 miles to Philipsburg. If driving westbound from Butte
on Interstate 90, take Highway 1 through the town of Anaconda and follow it.
