Oregon Coast Travel Region
Neskowin, Oregon

Neskowin is situated on a strip of Oregon Coast that is famous for its small, intimate communities and pristine beaches. Sandwiched between Pacific City on the north and Lincoln City on the south, the small town of Neskowin is located at the mouth of Neskowin Creek, overlooking the south end of ecologically rich Nestucca Bay.

Nestucca Bay’s diverse mixture of grasslands, dense woodlands, tidal marsh, mudflats and bogs provide the perfect habitat for a wide variety of birds – and the perfect setting for bird watching. The Nestucca Wildlife Refuge, situated on Nestucca Bay, is home to six sub-species of geese, including the previously endangered Aleutian Cackling goose and the dusty Canada goose.

Fishing is popular at the Neskowin Beach State Recreation Site, in town. Neskowin Creek and Hatch Creek merge near the park, which is a favorite location for catch-and-release steelhead fishing.

A path leads from the recreation site down to the beach, near Neskowin’s famous Proposal Rock. The large wooded mound was reportedly named around the turn of the 20th century during one couple’s romantic stroll to the massive hill. Trails weave to the top of the rock, which provides an excellent view of surrounding tidelands.

Golf is also popular in Neskowin, which has two enjoyable 9-hole golf courses in the center of town. Dazzling ocean coastline provides the backdrop for these two courses, which are set among marshlands and rolling, verdant pastures. Several other 18-hole courses are located north and south of Neskowin.
