Arcadia Beach State Recreation Site. Located 3 miles south of Cannon Beach on Highway 101. Toll-free: 1-800-551-6949. GPS: 45.846666 N; -123.961111 W.

Located a few feet from the ocean, Arcadia is an ideal sport for picnicking, beach activities and fishing year-round.

Del Ray Beach State Recreation Site. Located 2 miles north of Gearhart on Highway 101. Toll-free: 1-800-551-6949. GPS: 46.04444444 N; -123.923611 W.

Del Ray offers a great place to fly a kite, build a sandcastle, enjoy a picnic or watch a spectacular sunset.

Ecola State Park. Located 2 miles north of Cannon Beach off Highway 101. Phone: 503-436-2844; Toll-free: 1-800-551-6949. GPS: 45.923055 N; -123.96777 W.

Much history is to be found in Ecola. Walk the paved road through towering Sitka spruce to a fantastic view of the Pacific Ocean. Migrating grey whales can be seen during winter and spring.

Easy beach access and fishing make Hug Point a popular destination. Follow the original stagecoach trail north of the parking area, view Haystack Rock or explore the two caves around the point. Please be sure to pick up a tide book so you don't become stranded at high tide.

Beachcombing, freshwater lake swimming, trails, wildlife viewing, a historic shipwreck and a historic military area make Fort Stevens a uniquely diversified park. Nine miles of bicycle trails and six miles of hiking trails allow you to explore the park through spruce and hemlock forests, wetlands, dunes and shore pine.

Oswald, open year-round, has a beach nestled in a cove and is surrounded by mountains giving the sense of total privacy. Hike one of several trails to the beach that lead to the Cape Falcon overlook or the Oregon Coast Trail.
