Skykomish is a small historic railroad town located in the Cascade Mountains between Leavenworth and Seattle. Stevens Pass and Baring are the nearest communities.
Being the gateway to Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area, Skykomish is known for year-round outdoor recreational opportunities. Whitewater rafting and kayaking are popular on the Skykomish River. Hundreds of trails are nearby for hiking including Iron Goat Trail that follows the path of the original Great Northern Railway, Pacific Coast Trail and the hike to the scenic Bridal Veil Falls with Lake Serene at the top. The deserted logging roads that are great trails for biking, ATV and snowmobiling. Nearby Stevens Pass Ski Resort is the destination for snow activities.
The major attraction in Skykomish is the raw beauty of the natural surroundings, but there is plenty more to see such as historical buildings including the Historic Cascadia Inn, Great Northern Railway Depot and the town hall, or you can view the tranquil and beautiful scenery by driving the Stevens Pass Highway which is part of the Cascade Loop Scenic Byway.
