Leavenworth offers a variety of fishing venues featuring alpine lakes, Lake Wenatchee, Fish Lake, rivers, streams and creeks. Find out what kind of fish to catch and where along with directions on how to get to the fishing spots. Be sure to check out the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery.

Lakes and Ponds

Fish Lake
Less than 25 miles from Leavenworth, Fish Lake is a 500-acre lake just northeast of Lake Wenatchee known for trophy-class brown trout. Species also include rainbow trout, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Ice fishing is popular in the winter months.

The only boat ramp is at Cove Resort (Phone: 509-763-3130), where you can launch for a small fee. Boats are available for rent.

Directions: From Leavenworth, drive west on Highway 2 to the intersection of State Route 207. Follow highway 207 north past the intersection of highway 209. Cross the river on a steel bridge and then bear right at the Y a short distance to the lake.

Lake Wenatchee
This 2,480-acre lake has 13.3 miles of shoreline and offers boating, camping and hiking as well as fishing. Species include kokanee, sockeye salmon and bull trout.

Directions: From Leavenworth, drive west on Highway 2 to the intersection of State Route 207. Follow highway 207 north to the lake.

Trout Unlimited Park and Boat Launch
Located in Enchantment Park, the fishing pond opens in the spring and is stocked with trout by Trout Unlimited for kids 15 and under.

Rivers and Streams

Icicle River
Originating at Josephine Lake near the crest of the Cascades, this river is popular for fly fishing. Fish for Chinook Salmon in the springtime. Be sure to take a tour of the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery to learn about the migration of salmon.

Wenatchee River
This river originates at Lake Wenatchee traveling southeast for approximately 50 miles to the Columbia River, flowing through the towns of Leavenworth, Peshastin, Cashmere and Dryden. Anglers can catch whitefish, steelhead.

Fish Hatchery

Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery. 12790 Fish Hatchery Road, Leavenworth, WA 98826. Phone: 509-548-7641.

The hatcheries of the Leavenworth Complex (Entiat, Leavenworth and Winthrop) were placed into operation between 1940 and 1942 to lend a helping hand to the salmon of the Columbia River and its tributaries, after the construction of the Grand Coulee Dam. Beehive Reservoir
Located in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest about 8 miles southwest of Wenatchee this is a popular fishing destination. This small lake offers anglers an opportunity to catch Rainbow Trout and occasionally Tiger Trout.
