Beacon Rock State Park is best known for its excellent rock climbing opportunities. There are over 20 miles of trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding including the mile long trial it the summit of Beacon Rock featuring stunning views of the Columbia Gorge. A one mile interpretive trail at the Doetsch day-use area has interpretive signs about the Ice Age floods. Fishing is permitted on the lower Columbia River, below Bonneville Dam, for sturgeon, salmon, steelhead, bass, and walleye. This park also offers a boat ramp, two kitchen shelters with electricity in the park, plus two sheltered and 53 unsheltered picnic tables and camping.

This area is located in the eastern portions of Gifford Pinchot National Forest in southwest Washington and features Mt Adams Wilderness, Indian Heaven Wilderness and Trapper Creek Wilderness. There are miles of trails for hiking, backpacking, mountain bike riding and horseback riding. Climb Mt. Adams, go fishing in a river, stream, lake or pond, kayak in Goose, Mosquito or Forlorn Lakes, have a picnic at Ice Cave or enjoy the scenery. Wintertime offers plentiful opportunities for cross country skiing, snow shoeing, snowmobiling, sledding and tubing.
