Waldport, Oregon
Waldport sits at the mouth of Alsea Bay and overlooks the central portion of the Oregon Coast. Linked to Interstate 5 by Highway 34, Waldport is an easy commute from Corvallis and other major inland cities. Highway 101 joins Waldport with the towns of Yachats to the south, and Newport to the north.

More than 5,000 vessels frequent Alsea Bay and River every year either to catch Dungeness crabs or to take advantage of the area's superb Chinook salmon season, which takes place in the fall. Public launch points include the Port of Alsea and are positioned within the bay and up and down the Alsea River, providing ample opportunity for both motorized and non-motorized access to prime fishing areas.
Touring the Alsea Bay and adjoining river by boat is an excellent way to appreciate the area's pristine beauty. Alsea Bay is considered one of Oregon's most important estuaries, and is home to elk, salmon and river otter. Bird populations include Caspian terns, American Coot, the Great Blue Heron and thousands of migratory waterfowl.
The Alsea Bay Bridge Interpretive Center in Waldport provides tours of the historic bridge and nearby marine area. The interpretive center is part of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department and features a visitor center and various interpretive. Other nearby state park facilities, such as the immensely popular Seal Rock Wayside north of Waldport, offer up close and personal views of local wildlife and other ecological attractions.
Camping is available at nearby Beachside State Park, a couple of miles south of Waldport. Campers can literally camp at the edge of the beach, where kite flying, swimming, clamming and picnicking are favorite activities. The park is closed during the winter season.
